Shibari Rope Jam | Beginner Taster

Are you curious about Shibari but not sure of where and how to begin? Join us on Thursday eve to learn more about this rich, diverse and fascinating practice. We will teach some beginner-level content, a basic understanding of tying and give you a sense of why we love rope so much! No pre-requisites – come as you are! Experienced practitioners are also welcome to come hang out, practice and share.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Taster jams are focused on creating a safe and educational space to explore rope among our space holders with peers which isn’t tuition-based. This means lower commitment while you figure out what rope is for you and how you would like to progress with it. For these gatherings the focus is on creating a calm and social atmosphere where you can have fun in a low-pressure environment.

In a general context, a “beginner” refers to someone who is starting to learn or do something for the first time. It is commonly used to describe individuals who are new to a particular activity or skillset. Beginners usually are at the initial stage of acquiring knowledge, gaining experience, and developing basic skills in a chosen area who may seek guidance, instruction, and practice to progress from the novice stage to a more advanced level of proficiency in their chosen pursuit.

We call these Taster Jams as we want to give beginners a taste of rope, whilst still having an encouraging space for those who have tied before to practice and deepen their skill.

There may be some entry-level tuition for basic knots and at the same time space for experienced folks to tie if they do not want to participate in the tuition component. We encourage attendees to get input on their technique from more experienced riggers and bottoms.

Embodiment Rope Space is a welcoming and safe(r) space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. We practice rope and shibari communally and host occasional workshops for upskilling the community. Rope/Shibari is never safe, there are only ways to do it more safely.

Events start promptly at 19:00. Please DM us via Instagram if you are running late.Doors open at 18:40 and are closed at 19:05. We will be strict about this because late-coming can be very disruptive to those in the space. Pre-booking is essential (cash on the afternoon is available by arrangement via Instagram DM).
