Welcome to our taster jam – to get a taste of rope without any pressure! Absolute beginners and experienced rope practitioners are welcome at this jam. These jams are generally without a pre-defined theme and are the perfect space to come no matter your skill level (this means of course no prior experience with rope required).
We will be using this evening to be creative with flowers and rope. Unleash your creativity. You have most likely seen some gorgeous images online of intricate harnesses decorated with rope – and this is the perfect evening to infuse the magic of flowers to create a fun and interesting aesthetic in your ties. We will be providing the flowers for the evening, just bring your creativity!
Taster jams are focused on creating a safe and educational space to explore rope among our space holders and peers which isn’t tuition-based. This means lower commitment while you figure out what rope is for you and how you would like to progress with it, if at all. We also hope to provide a calm and social space where you can have fun in a low-pressure environment.
In a general context, a “beginner” refers to someone who is starting to learn or do something for the first time. It is commonly used to describe individuals who are new to a particular activity, skill, subject, or field. Beginners are typically at the initial stage of acquiring knowledge, gaining experience, and developing basic skills in the chosen area. We call these Taster Jams as we want to give beginners a taste of rope, whilst still having an encouraging space for those who have tied before to practice and deepen their skill.
We feel that being a beginner is a natural and often temporary phase in the learning process. It implies a level of unfamiliarity and a need for foundational knowledge and skills. Beginners may seek guidance, instruction, and practice to progress from the novice stage to a more advanced level of proficiency in their chosen pursuit.
There may be some entry-level tuition for basic knots and space for experienced folks to tie if they do not want to participate in the tuition component, just ask our team if you need any help. We encourage attendees to get input on their technique from more experienced riggers and bottoms.
